Hip-hop star Pharrell Williams reached out to Miley Cyrus and offered to produce her new album after watching her deal with the media storm following the bong scandal that threatened to derail her career two years ago.
The former Hannah Montana singer/actress became embroiled in controversy in December, 2010 when video footage of the teen smoking psychoactive plant Salvia, giggling and babbling incoherently, emerged online – just days after she celebrated her 18th birthday.
Anti-drugs campaigners condemned Cyrus for setting a bad example to her young fans, while her own father, Billy Ray Cyrus, admitted he was saddened by the footage and apologized to her followers for her behavior.
The ex-Disney star later admitted she had made a “bad decision” and conceded it was a “mistake” to allow herself to bow to peer pressure, but there was one positive to come from the drama – her collaboration with Williams.
In an interview with Marie Claire magazine, Cyrus reveals she felt invigorated by Williams’ approach to music-making and she ended up pouring out her emotions in her new tracks.
She explains, “Pharrell said (after hearing about the bong scandal): ‘Don’t be offended because this is how I talk, but (I thought), ‘That b**ch is actually living. She’s not sitting there with her Momager’s chain on her door. I want to free that b**ch. I want her out of her cage.’
“I’d never worked like that before. I was talking to him like he was an older brother, and everything I said was going onto the track.”
Cyrus admits her new, more personal tunes may not be to everyone’s liking, but she isn’t worried about sales figures, “I don’t need the money. I don’t care if I make a dime on this. Let me make a good record. I got in there with Pharrell, and it was magic. Oh, dude, I’m so happy.”

“I don’t really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we’ve made to each other,” she says of her fiance, “The Hunger Games” star Liam Hemsworth.
Miley Cyrus is defending herself from critics who think she is too young to be thinking about marriage. The singer-actress, 19, in May became engaged to The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth, whom she met in 2009 on the set of The Last Song.
“Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with,” she says in the September issue of Marie Claire. “I don’t really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we’ve made to each other. And we want to have a long engagement.”
She declined to talk about how Hemsworth, 22, proposed, though she did say at happened at the 8,000-square-foot house that they share in California’s San Fernando Valley (Cyrus’ family previously lived there before relocating two doors down).
Cyrus, who is working on a fourth album, added that Hemsworth, who hails from Australia, gets along well with her family.
“When he first moved to America, he didn’t have any family here, so our family became his,” she said. “This [house] is where all our memories are being made.”
She did admit that the proposal was a “complete surprise” to her and her family. She also said she didn’t have any say in the 3.5-carat Neil Lane diamond ring, set in a yellow-gold band, that Hemsworth picked out for her.
“I had no input,” Cyrus said. “We’d been kind of talking about [getting engaged], and I saw something like it online at one point and thought it was really pretty, but I usually wear rose gold. I just love that it’s old and has a story. And I’m happy because it doesn’t look like anything else I wear.”

“We saw her coming out of the gay bar with one of her gay friends,” @CloBrown0291 tells PEOPLE. “She was very nice. She said she always supports her gays. She asked for a lighter and we shared a cigarette with her. She had to hurry back because she was meeting up with Liam.”
Cyrus, clad in gold sequined shorts, “gladly accepted,” when asked for a photo, @CloBrown0291 says. “She was a doll.”

It sounds like a good plan if this is true, but I would think that Miley would want to stick with what she knows and that would be women’s clothing. Plus I am sure she would have an easier time finding buyers who would be willing to sell them for her. However, it could be possible that she wants to try uncharted waters and see how that turns out.
